cover ideas

I found it quite difficult to find a font colour that would work well the wall paper because there is alot going off. The image wasn't dark enough for light colour font. So in the end i went for black which i think worked okay but it does not stand out as much as i wanted it too. Also the dark shadows from the light has made my models face darker on one side. Although i do like how the natural light from the window reflects on her face.

This one was easy for me to put my title on as there was a lot of space above where it could go. I really like how the guitar is in the shot as it still relates to music. I like the smile of my model in this photo as it give a natural effect to my front cover which i wanted.

This is one of my favorite shots. I really like the way i have put the title to the side;which i did not want to at first, yet because the picture was so far up the title would not have stood out as much. I also like how the guitar is in this shot aswel and how the font fits to the shape of my m model.

I am not overally keen on these photographs because the it was hard to fit the title in an appropriate space as most of the space it took up from the picture. I also this this image is abit too serious for my magazine as i wanted something more elegent and natural.
The title on the arm is differnet and i am still not sure if i this or not. I do think the green looks better than the black as its alot more softer and goes well with the background.

Filters on Mock shots

I think these photo's have worked wonderfully. The wash colour was just what i wanted for my magazine. It give the images an old, blurry effect which i think relates to my genre of music.
I think the background for my shots worked really well. I though that if i used a patterned background it would make it different, rather than the plain white background. I think that these would work well for my front cover, although i think i will take some pictures outside, but i might also use the same effects, for inside my magazine. This is because i want to make my front cover look professional and catch the audience's eye.

I used some different outfits for my model yet  i think the shirt and shorts were to casual and i will probably use that style for when i do my photo shots outside.
I think the dress works really well with the background and genre of music. I did not want a very formal dress as i think it will not work well with the kind of image i wanted for my magazine to portray.

Mock Test Shots

I really like these images, as they are all quite natural, apart from the middle which is quite serious but i think it works well with the position my model is standing. I like how the last two images show the top on the guitar - relating to the music magazine. I think the photographs shows a fun side, yet i think there is quite a large open space in the top left corner on the bottom image which would be unwise for a front cover magazine.

Experimenting with Fliters

Test Shots

These are a few test shots a took of Hannah. I want to include a guitar in my photos so I can show what type of music the magazine is about before they look at the title and also to emphasises the title.
For the first shot i wanted Hannah to look into the sun, making her face light up. I really like the background as the windows make the outside blurring yet the bright red highlights the colour of her hair, which works well.
I think these sort of pictures will work better for inside my magazine because they have more going on in the background. I think i shall have a more plainer background for my front cover as it will attract more attention to the audience.

This shot was took inside and looks very dark which I do not want to happen in my actual photographs.

image inspirations

These are a selection of images i collected that i think will work well with my magazine. I am really interested in taking photos outside for my front cover and for the images inside the magazine like the ones above. The first two images are some of my favorites. I think that this kind of style clothing and scenery will be appropriate and relevant to my genre of music and interest people that are also into fashion and photograpghy.
This image is quite nice although i find it a bit to old fashioned and classic and do not want my target audience to be put off by this.
I really like this image as it has quite a natural feel. Also the edits of the photo has been made to look quite old and sepia. This creates a more different style. I like the angle the picture of the guitar has been taken also.

This would be quite a good style picture to have as my front cover and is shows some kind of band with acoustic guitars. Also the angle of the camera is looking up slightly, but still shows a nice frontal shot. The use of sepia in this image makes if slightly different although i don't think i will use sepia for my front cover page.
This image is quite vintage and fashionable. I really like the style of the photograph as it is quite random and unique. The sunlight makes the whole image natural and this is kind of feel i want for my magazine.
This is a more 'hippy' side of acoustic music which i could include. I really like the clothes and accessories she is wearing. Also the red guitar stands out and attracts attention which could be something to consider.
This image is also one of my favorites as is simple but effective. I am thinking of using something similar to this for the images inside the magazine rather than the front cover as i think there is so much bare space.

Title of my Magazine

Unplugged.

I thought firstly to have a name that would be different and attach attention to the reader. One word magazine names are fairly common, yet although I want to be original I think I would have to stick to a one worded magazine title because a long name would make it more complicated and 'un-catchy'.
I think a title with a link with the sort of style music to the magazine would be appropriate. The first thing I thought of was Acoustic which pretty much sums up what is in the magazine. Yet I found there was already a magazine with this name so I decided to think up more un-familiar names that would stand out. The second name i came up with was Unplugged which i got inspiration of an acoustic CD by Bryan Adams that was named Unplugged. This I think works really well and simple, yet it still gets the point across to the reader about what type of music would be expected.

Audience Profile

Age : 16-25

Background - studying either music, media, art, photography, English. Interested in acoustic music rather than 'heavy' music, or interest in both.

Occupation - Any, but mainly within the areas of music, media, photography ( above)

Gender - Female (mainly)

Likes - art, fashion, music, guitars/instruments, un-known artists/new bands, sports (such as surfing, snowboarding etc), gigs/festivals, seasons, jewelry

Dislike - faster/up-beat music, RNB+rap music

Music - soft, acoustic music, copied well known songs presented in a different way

Fonts

For my font I want a simple and clear title that is also eye catching. The fonts above are all fonts I found suitable for the magazine. The one I dislike the most is the second one down (Caffeme Blackout) because I found it to different for the genre of music that i wanted for my magazine. Although the font is unique I do not think it will work well with my magazine. One of my favorite fonts is the last one ( Maragarosa) which i think is quite good as it look hand written but is not messy. Also the one above this (Hand Of Sean) is similar to the bottom font. These two, I think would work well for my genre of music.

Inspiration

These images are of different issues of the SurfGirl magazine. The magazine does not contain a lot of music, but some, which is shown in one of the images above. The reason I picked these magazine pictures are because I really like the layout and style they show. I love how small sketches and artwork is shown or just simple patterns and random drawings on the pages. I also enjoy looking at the range of pictures which have small effects and washed out photos.
Although the images take up most of the room on these images, so the text is just in small chunks at the bottom, in my magazine I will try and spread them out equally so people will be interested in both the pictures and the information as well.

Trevor Moss and Hannah-Lou by Abigail Nottingham

These are a selection of images i took of Amelia's Magazine internet page. I really like the idea of adding sketches and drawings into my magazine just to make it abit more uniquie and different. The middle image, I think is abit to complex for my magazine, although it is a great piece of art work! The other two images i think will be more suitable for my magazine as the first looks quite quick and rough which will create a artstic side to my magazine. And also the last image has ranges of colours which would be good for my page.
