Draft Double Page Spread

I am very pleased with my mock article page. I have used hand written style fonts for the quotes because i wanted to seem like Alice Harley had wrote them herself. I have selected parts of the wallpaper of the pictures onto the page just to relate back to the photos. I think this technique works well with the page because it creates a calm feeling to the page which it what i wanted because of my genre of music.
For the colour scheme i have used greys, browns and blacks. I wanted natural colours, but the black seemed to fit in well so stand out key parts on the page.

Front Cover Draft ideas

This is one of my ideas for a tester mock of my front cover. I think the cover should be simple,to suit the music genre. I think with this the colours are too bright and I am thinking about putting a lighter wash over the whole image before adding my text next time.

For a second idea i have decided to use a picture that has more space at the top for the title because i feel this will make to cover more realistic. I have also included a green colour to relate back to the wallpaper in the background. I used soft fonts that look neat but also fits with the genre of music. The title font i have used is like a handwritten font which i am not to sure about because it looks quite un-realistic.
For a third idea i used to same image as my second but decided to change the font of the title to make it stand out more and i also played around with the contrast to make it lighter to show up some of the written in darker areas. In the image beneath i have moved the title to be in the centre at the top because i wanted to see what it would be like. I think that both of these look better than the first because they look a lot more appropriate.
On this image i have got rid of the quote at the because i feel there is too many fonts on the page and it spoilt the front page.
This is my final mock idea. I have lowered the Alice Harley writing because there was a large space to the right which i think did not look very good. I also gave the picture a whole lighter wash because the black writing was hard to read because of the shadows at the bottom.

Mock Contents

I decided to experiment on my contents page with the research i had collected. I used the collage from below and added it to a double page spread, where I  then decided that the background looked quite bland and boring. So I then used a part of the wallpaper in my photos I took of my model. I then used 'photoshop' to apply them to spread and at first I changed the background to black and white. This didn't look quite right and I felt I needed colour in the background to make it a bit more lively. I used 'photoshop' to change parts of the flower a light purple/mauve colour which i think works well with the colour scheme. I then added the text into the style and  format I wanted.
I have tried experimenting with both black and purple writing to see which works best.

Contents Page Ideas

This is a rough sketch I did of an idea for my contents page. I really like the idea of a 2 page spread contents page. I decided have on one page a collage full of images all edited to black and white or with various other filters. Then on the right side I would have a fairy simple page with a background colour of cream or another neutral colour, but with maybe some kind of washed out patterns or marks on to make not make it so bland. The Information and page numbers would all be in a neat paragraph below the large title of Contents.
I was thinking of having a double page spread contents page. From various magazines I have researched this idea of a image collage really grabbed my attention, and I though it would work well with my magazine. This is only a rough idea, as I have collected images I already had taken just so i could have some idea what colours and fonts would be appropriate.

Article Draft

Alice has every reason to have such a big smile on her face, after all she's the new acoustic sensation! At only 20 she is already heading for the musical spotlight. After a few late night gigs in Lincoln and Leicester I finally have time for a quick chat with her!

How are you feeling this morning after 3 late nights in a row?!
Well it’s been hard! Me and the band I’m touring with mostly sleep all day to get ready for the evening. The only thing that keeps me going is my fans and atmosphere that they create when I’m playing. I love them all for it.

What was it like performing in front of so many people?
At first it was nerve racking! One time I suddenly stopped in front of about 50 people when I was doing a small gig back in Portsmouth and I couldn’t bring myself back to singing! I’ve never been that great with crowds, but after some confidence building and practising I was a lot better!

After your huge hit ‘Drift Away’ is it going to be hard to bring out a new song that will do as well?
It will probably be hard because a lot of people love my first official single, but as long as my fans have faith in me they should like my following songs as well. I like writing songs in my own style and hopefully that will continue throughout other songs in the future, which will connect to my fans. I will tell you that my next single soon to be released is called ‘Love is no Crime’ so what out for it soon.
When did you first become interested in playing the acoustic guitar?
Well I’ve grown up with a family full of music. My older brother plays the piano and my dad plays the guitar, which has helped me with my music. My dad taught me to play the guitar when I was very young and from then on I have been constantly attached to my guitars.
I heard you say guitars? How many do you have and what sort?
I have about 6 guitars in total but I keep buying new ones and selling my old ones on! Right now I have Sanden guitar and three Taylor guitars and my two favourites are Gibson’s.

Very nice!
So, I need to ask, why did you name your album ‘The Chronicles’?
Well I think that most of my songs on the album tell stories about made up people or from my own or friends experiences. To be truthful I found it very hard to think up a name for my album, but after a deep thought about my songs I finally came up with this.
One random question, is there anything you prefer than music?!
Well there's obviously my family and friends! I couldn't have made the music I done without them. Although sometimes I think I love my guitar more than my boyfriend! [laughs] But don't print that!
